Andrews Fine Arts Van Elten was a Dutch landscape painter, etcher and lithographer and helped usher in the second Golden Age of Dutch painting.He is credited with introducing Dutch painting to the Americans. His paintings blend the style of the Hudson River School with that of the Dutch landscape painters.He was made an Academician of the National Academy of Design (NYC) where he exhibited. He was appointed a commissioner of Fine Arts for the Dutch Government for the 1876 Centennial Exhibition in Philadephia, PA. He was a member of the Society of Painter-Etchers in London, UK and the Royal Academies of Amsterdam and Rotterdam.His exhibitions included the Denver Artist’s Club, The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Louisiana Purchase Exposition, World’s Columbian Exposition, Chicago, Boston Art Club, Brooklyn Art Association, National Academy of Design, Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Fine Arts Boston.
