Franz Altschuler was born in Germany in 1923 but moved to the United States with his family in 1936. Seven years later, he moved to Chicago to study art and made the city his home until his death in 2009. Franz’s colorful artwork hangs in galleries and private collections around the world. He also did illustrations for books and magazines and is especially know for his work with Playboy Magazine. This constructivist watercolor was done during his Southwest Period and was given to his sister Evi Altschuler as a birthday present.
