Framed in beautiful ornate oval frame. Mason was known for his portraiture of famous, noble people; this might be someone of important stature. The quality of the paint is very fine and the details are of high academic excellence. The light around her face is beautifully done, as well as the fine work done of the pearls around her wrist. Signed on the lower right of canvas. Original date of creation is 1853Condition: Has small damage in paint on the far right of canvas, very minor though. Has little craquelure from age, other than this it is in good condition. Paintings in this size and even smaller got sold for $12000-$18000. Thanks
